Recurring Yeast Infections
Causes

Candida is a real problem for a lot of women and some men so
if you wish to prevent this it is important to discover the
recurring yeast infection causes. Only then will it be possible
for you to take steps to cure the problem and then prevent it
happening over and over again.
Vaginal yeast infections can be a common problem for women.
This can be as a result of the yeast multiplying rapidly when
there is a change in the vaginal environment through injury,
sexual transmission or HIV. There are several reasons why the
conditions may favour the yeast though, including the type of
underwear you have on.
If you wear tight underwear and clothing it can trap heat
and moisture in the crotch area providing a good environment
for the yeast. Long stockings instead of tights will help you
prevent infections, as will cotton panties and avoid sleeping
in pants at night time.

However, your clothing is not the sole reason for Candida
affecting women, with antibiotics arguably one of the biggest
recurring yeast infection causes. The problem with antibiotics
is that while they may cure you of another ailment they will
also kill the healthy bacteria in the crotch. This means the
yeast will quickly take over and cause an infection.
Of course maintaining a healthy diet will help you to ward
off other ailments and reduce the need for antibiotics.
However, if you catch a cold then try to avoid taking
antibiotics and look for more natural remedies or wait for the
fever to run its course.
Many dieticians and experts in the field of yeast infections
believe that diet has a direct link to Candida, as a high sugar
intake will feed the yeast and help it to take over. Diabetics
are more susceptible to yeast infections because of sugar in
their urine.
If you are pregnant or taking contraceptive pills you are
also susceptible to Candida as your hormone levels can affect
yeast. Steroids used in the treatment of ailments such as
arthritis or asthma are sometimes also recurring yeast
infection causes.
Weakened immune systems is another a reason why you may be
more likely to suffer from yeast infections. Overuse of
antibiotics is not helpful to the body’s natural defence
systems, but also people with HIV or Lyme disease have weakened
immune systems that can lead to vaginal yeast infections or
thrush, which affects the mouth and throat.
Antibacterial deodorant soap can have the same effect as the
antibiotics and therefore you should try and avoid it. In fact
many recommend avoiding soaping the crotch as soaps are
disruptive to the vaginal environment and can damage mucus
membranes.
Some other chemicals such as detergents and perfumes are
also recurring yeast infection causes. For example some laundry
detergents and fabric conditioners have allergenic dyes and
perfumes, so using products that are unscented may help you
prevent yeast infections.
Yeast infections can be transmitted through sexual
intercourse so ideally men should wear a condom especially as
the problem in men is less evident. If you are a man you may be
unaware you an infection. However, it has been found that some
condoms can also be the cause of yeast infections, especially
ones with a spermicidal lubricant.
These are just some of the causes if you have a yeast
infection but there may be other causes. For example you may be
allergic to a particular product. If you suspect you or your
partner has an infection, the best thing to do is check it out
with your doctor as soon as possible.
